Baden-Württemberg pumps €500M into road upgrades and repairs by 2026

Baden-Württemberg is set to invest over €500 million in road maintenance and upgrades. The funding will target key routes across the region, with major work planned in the Emmendingen district from 2026. More than 300 new projects are expected to begin in the coming years, focusing on repairs and infrastructure improvements. The Transport Ministry has made clear its focus on preserving existing roads and bridges. Among the planned works, the L186 between Waldkirch and Kandel will undergo a full renovation along 13.7 kilometres. Another key project involves a 340-metre section of the B3 in Emmendingen, where a fresh road surface will be laid.

The L106, running between Bleichheim and Streitberg, will also see repairs and the addition of a new retaining structure. In Obersimonswald, an existing retaining structure is scheduled for renovation. Meanwhile, the L173 in Simonswald has been included in the maintenance plans. These upgrades form part of a broader push, with over 300 projects set to launch in 2026. The Emmendingen district will be a central area for improvements, reflecting the region's commitment to modernising its transport network.

The €500 million investment will address critical repairs and expansions across Baden-Württemberg. Roads like the L186 and B3 will benefit from renewed surfaces and structural upgrades. With work beginning in 2026, the projects aim to improve travel conditions and infrastructure reliability.
