Bavaria tests discounted Germany ticket for all students - Bavaria extends €365 annual transport pass for students until 2027
Students and trainees in Bavaria will keep their access to affordable public transport. The state has extended the €365 annual pass for buses and trains until summer 2027. This move ensures continued low-cost travel for thousands of young people across several regional networks.
The current €365 pass, already available in parts of Bavaria, will remain valid for years to come. It offers a far cheaper alternative to the standard Deutschlandticket, which costs €63 per month. A discounted version of the national ticket for trainees, students, and volunteers is priced at €43 monthly.
Many students in the region already benefit from free school transport for daily trips. Now, the Bavarian government is exploring ways to introduce a discounted Deutschlandticket for all schoolchildren. Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter has also been instructed to develop a plan for expanding the €365 annual pass to cover the entire state.
The decision follows ongoing efforts to make public transport more accessible. While exact numbers of students and apprentices using free transport are unclear, the extension aims to maintain support for those already relying on the scheme.
The extended pass will remain in place until at least summer 2027. It provides a long-term solution for affordable travel in Bavaria. Officials are also working on broader discounts to benefit even more young commuters.
