Berlin Half Marathon shuts down key roads through Monday evening

Berlin is preparing for its annual Half Marathon, with road closures already in place. The event has prompted traffic restrictions across key routes in the city centre. Organisers began setting up the course early on Friday morning. The closures will remain until Monday evening, affecting major roads including Straße des 17. Juni between Yitzhak Rabin Street and the Brandenburg Gate. Around 42,000 runners are expected to take part, passing landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate and other central sites.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area where possible. Instead, they can use alternative routes like the A100 city highway, the Tiergarten Tunnel (B96), or the Adenauerplatz tunnel. Public transport is also recommended for those travelling over the weekend. The marathon will disrupt traffic until late Monday, with key city roads staying closed. Authorities have urged motorists to plan ahead and consider public transport. The event will see thousands of runners navigating Berlin's historic streets.
