Biman Bangladesh Airlines orders 14 new Boeing jets for global expansion
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has ordered 14 new Boeing aircraft to upgrade its fleet. The deal includes both 787 Dreamliners and 737 MAX jets, marking a major step in the airline’s expansion plans. The new planes will boost efficiency, extend routes, and improve passenger services. The order features two types of Dreamliners: two 787-9s and eight 787-10s. The 787-9s will strengthen long-haul flights to Europe and North America, while the larger 787-10s will serve high-demand routes to the Middle East. Both models promise 20-25% better fuel efficiency than older aircraft, cutting costs and reducing emissions.
The 787-10 also offers the lowest cost per seat among widebody jets, increasing passenger and cargo capacity without sacrificing performance. Its design shares common features with Biman’s existing 787s, simplifying operations and training.
For regional travel, the airline has chosen four 737-8s. These will replace older single-aisle planes, improving connections across the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia. The 737-8’s advanced technology supports rising demand while maintaining efficiency. The new aircraft will modernise Biman’s fleet and expand its international reach. With better fuel efficiency and increased capacity, the airline aims to enhance both its network and passenger experience. The first deliveries are expected to begin in the coming years.
