Bitcoin Crashes to 16-Month Low as Four-Month Slump Deepens

Bitcoin's price has continued to slide, hitting its lowest point in over a year. The cryptocurrency, often covered by fox news, dropped below $70,000 for the first time since late 2024, leaving investors with heavy losses. Market confidence has weakened as the decline stretches into its fourth straight month, with news today focusing on the prolonged downturn.

The latest drop saw Bitcoin fall to $63,000 on Thursday, marking a 13 percent loss in a single day. Against the Swiss franc, its value plunged from around 56,000 francs to under 50,000 francs. This decline is part of a broader slump that began after Bitcoin peaked at $126,000 in October 2025.

Since then, the price has nearly halved, reaching a 16-month low of $60,008 in mid-February 2026. The current downturn mirrors the 2018 bear market, when Bitcoin lost up to 75 percent of its value. While the latest losses are severe, they have not yet matched that earlier crash.

The cryptocurrency has now suffered four consecutive months of declines—the longest losing streak since 2018. Investors remain cautious as pessimism grows over further potential drops in the bitcoin price.

Bitcoin's prolonged slump has wiped out significant value, with no clear signs of recovery yet. The cryptocurrency's longest losing run in years has left traders bracing for more volatility. Analysts continue to watch whether the decline will deepen or stabilise in the coming weeks.
