Bitsurance Secures Funding to Revolutionize Corporate Bitcoin Protection

Bitsurance, a specialist in Bitcoin insurance, has completed its first funding round and will now operate as a limited liability company (GmbH). The firm focuses on protecting corporate Bitcoin holdings through tailored insurance for self-custody setups, including hardware wallets and multisignature arrangements.

The funding round was led by Alex von Frankenberg, previously managing director of High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF). Other backers include Kristian Kläger of Portner Capital, Jeff Gallas from FULMO, Jochen Maaß, and Sebastian Schulz of Hanse Ventures. With this financial boost, Bitsurance plans to expand beyond the DACH region, increase Bitcoin insurance coverage limits, and develop bespoke B2B insurance products.

The company is led by CEO Christian Wind, founder of SEEDOR, alongside Philipp Oehler, who brings deep Bitcoin insurance industry expertise. Technical development is overseen by Christian Rotzoll, a well-known figure in the Bitcoin community. Together, they aim to address the underserved market of Bitcoin insurance, offering structured guidance for securely storing and insuring corporate treasuries.

Bitsurance's solutions cover risks such as hardware wallet failures, multisignature vulnerabilities, and physical threats. The firm positions itself as one of the first to specialise in this niche, though its future growth will rely on regulatory clarity and rising institutional demand for Bitcoin insurance solutions.

The new GmbH structure allows Bitsurance to scale its operations and refine its product range. Higher Bitcoin insurance coverage limits and geographic expansion are now within reach. However, the company's progress will depend on how regulations evolve and whether more institutions seek Bitcoin insurance solutions.
