Biysk residents block roads as drivers ignore official detour routes
Roadworks on Mitrofanova Street in Biysk have forced traffic onto a temporary detour until late May. Instead of following the official route, many drivers are cutting through nearby residential areas. This has led to frustration among locals, who now face safety risks and daily disruptions.
The closure of Mitrofanova Street was meant to redirect vehicles via Modny Boulevard, Merlin Street, and Gastello Street. But most motorists ignore the detour, speeding through courtyards near 4 Promyshlennaya Street instead. Residents have responded by placing concrete blocks to stop through traffic, yet drivers continue to bypass the barriers.
Traffic officers briefly visited the area but left without enforcing the detour. A local woman reported that police had promised action, but no changes have been made. She suggested installing clearer signs at the traffic light to guide drivers toward the official route. The ongoing shortcuts have made it harder for pedestrians to cross streets safely. Residents also struggle to access their homes as cars flood the narrow residential roads.
The unofficial detour remains in place, causing persistent problems for those living near Promyshlennaya Street. Without stricter enforcement or better signage, the situation is unlikely to improve before the roadworks end in late May.
