Biysk upgrades key street with 17M-ruble road repairs under national plan

A major section of Valya Maksimova Street in Biysk is being repaired as part of a wider infrastructure upgrade. The 900-metre stretch, linking the Central and Railway Station districts, is receiving a new road surface after years of wear. Locals have welcomed the improvements so far. Workers have already milled the old pavement along the route, which runs from Building 2A, Unit 1, to Vasily Shukshin Square. The next phase will see crews lay fresh asphalt concrete on the main road, adjacent sections, and nearby parking bays. Once the surfacing is complete, new road markings and signage will be installed.

The entire project carries a price tag of around 17 million rubles. It forms part of Biysk’s broader plan to renovate nine street sections—totalling 6.5 kilometres—by 2026 under the national Infrastructure for Life programme. The upgraded street will provide a smoother route to Biysk’s bus and train stations. With the repairs nearing completion, the focus will soon shift to the next set of roadworks planned for the city. The project aims to improve transport links and reduce wear on key urban routes.
