Braunschweig region to add four new train stations by 2029

Last week, the Greater Braunschweig Regional Association announced new train stops set to be built in the region over the next three years. The first on the list are Isenbüttel in Gifhorn district, Braunschweig-Bienrode, and Wolfsburg-Sandkamp. Four more stations are planned to follow, including one in Wendessen.

When Will Wendessen Get Its Train Stop?

As early as October last year, regionalHeute.de asked Deutsche Bahn about the status of the planned train stop in Wendessen, a district of Wolfenbüttel. At the time, officials suggested a possible opening by the end of 2029. But have those plans held up?

Wendessen Station Still on Track for 2029

Apparently, nothing has changed. In response to an inquiry, a Deutsche Bahn spokesperson confirmed that the timeline is regularly reviewed and that there is "no new information to the contrary."

This means the key milestones remain unchanged: The submission of documents for the planning approval procedure is still expected in 2026. Conservation measures for protected species are scheduled for 2028, with platform construction set to begin in the third quarter of 2029. The station is planned to open in December of that same year.
