Bremen's Free Mobility Training Helps Wheelchair and Rollator Users Navigate Buses Safely

Bremen Public Transport (BSAG) is running free mobility training sessions to help people with limited movement use buses and trams more safely. The programme supports those who rely on rollators, wheelchairs, or other mobility aids. Over 1,200 individuals have already taken part in these sessions since their introduction, with more planned until the end of 2025.

The training will take place in three areas of Bremen: Neustadt, Bremen-Nord, and Neue Vahr Süd. Sessions are scheduled between March and June, each lasting 90 minutes for rollator users and 120 minutes for wheelchair users.

In Neustadt, the BSAG Centre will host two time slots for rollator users and one for wheelchair users. Meanwhile, the sessions in Bremen-Nord and Neue Vahr Süd are open to both rollator and wheelchair users, running from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Participants will practice boarding, exiting, and moving safely on buses and trams under supervision. However, spaces are limited, and advance registration is required. If too few people sign up, a session may be cancelled.

The programme aims to build confidence and independence for those with mobility challenges. By offering hands-on practice, BSAG hopes to make public transport more accessible. Registration details are available through the company's official channels.
