Capital's LRT expansion hits milestone with first support pillar completed
Work on the capital’s new LRT line toward Koshy is moving forward. The project aims to improve the city’s transport network with a major expansion of elevated tracks.
Recently, crews completed the first support pillar and began producing the reinforced concrete beams needed for the viaduct. The LRT extension will include more than 300 support pillars along its route. The first of these has now been cast, marking a key step in construction.
A total of 538 precast reinforced concrete beams will form the elevated section. The first of these beams has already been manufactured. In addition, eight monolithic beams are planned for specific parts of the structure. The project continues to progress with the casting of pillars and production of beams. Once complete, the new line will add capacity to the capital’s transport system. Further updates on construction milestones are expected in the coming months.
