Century Aluminum Reports $634M Q4 Revenue and Major Smelter Expansion Plans

Century Aluminum Company (CENX) has shared its latest financial results and strategic updates in a recent earnings call for Q4 2025. The company reported steady growth, with net sales reaching $634 million and a net income of $1.8 million. Key developments include a major smelter project in Oklahoma and faster-than-expected repairs at its Grundartangi facility.

During the earnings call, CEO Jesse Gary highlighted Century's strong position in the American aluminum market. He noted excellent performance across smelter assets in Q4, with the Sebree plant achieving record results in both profitability and operational metrics. The company also confirmed plans to ship around 630,000 tons of primary aluminum in 2026, boosted by the Mt. Holly expansion and an earlier restart of Grundartangi's Line 2—now expected by late April, six months ahead of schedule.

Century is moving forward with a major smelter project in Oklahoma, partnering with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA). EGA will hold a 60% stake, while Century retains 40%, supported by a $500 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. The facility will use EGA's advanced EX technology, increasing its projected capacity to 750,000 metric tons—more than doubling current U.S. aluminum production. Bechtel has been hired to lead engineering for the project.

The company also completed the sale of its Hawesville site, generating $200 million in cash and a 6.8% stake in the redeveloped data centre. Meanwhile, at Jamalco, a new on-site power turbine (TG4) is nearing completion, expected to cut refinery costs significantly. CFO Peter Trpkovski reported net sales of $634 million for the quarter, up $2 million from the previous period, with net income at $1.8 million or $0.02 per share.

Aluminium prices have shown volatility, averaging $2,419 per tonne in 2025—lower than previous years. However, by February 2026, spot prices climbed to $3,101.90 per tonne, marking a 15.95% year-over-year increase and hitting a three-year high of $3,270 in late January. The rise reflects strong demand and constrained Chinese output, capped at 45 million tons due to government restrictions.

Century Aluminum's latest updates point to expansion and efficiency gains across its operations. The Oklahoma smelter, Grundartangi restart, and Jamalco turbine project are set to strengthen production capacity and reduce costs. With rising aluminum prices and strategic investments, the company is positioning itself for growth in 2026.
