Cuauhtémoc removes 10,900+ tons of waste in week-long cleanup blitz
Cuauhtémoc borough has cleared more than 10,900 tons of solid waste in just over a week. The intensive cleanup ran from May 30 to June 5, targeting both illegal dumping and regular sanitation needs. Officials say the effort aims to improve public health and restore neglected areas. During the seven-day operation, crews removed 1,897 tons of waste from illegal dumping sites. These spots are part of around 200 known locations where rubbish repeatedly piles up. The borough also collected 9,048 tons through standard sanitation services.
The campaign focused on preventing garbage accumulation and reclaiming public spaces. Authorities stressed the importance of maintaining sanitary conditions, especially in high-traffic areas. Daily patrols and waste removal were stepped up to tackle persistent problems.
The cleanup resulted in over 10,900 tons of waste being hauled away. Illegal dumping remains a challenge, but the borough continues to target recurring hotspots. Officials plan to sustain these efforts to keep streets and public areas clean.
