Đồng Tháp's bold coastal transformation into a green industrial powerhouse

Đồng Tháp Province is pushing ahead with plans to transform its eastern coastal region into a key industrial and logistics hub. Four new industrial parks and clusters, covering over 1,100 hectares, are currently under development. The area is being positioned as a strategic growth corridor for modern, green, and high-value industries.

The Gò Công coastal area is at the centre of this expansion. Authorities aim to turn it into a multi-sector hub, prioritising technology-driven and value-added industries. A new coastal road is also in the planning stages, designed to improve connectivity between regions and serve as a development backbone for local communities.

Infrastructure upgrades are already underway. Provincial Road 864, linking the provincial centre to Gò Công, is nearing completion, forming a continuous transport route along the Tiền River. Meanwhile, Gia Thừận 2 Industrial Cluster, built in September 2025 on 50 hectares, now features roads, drainage, water supply, power, fire safety systems, lighting, and a wastewater treatment plant.

Some projects are already taking shape. Gia Thừận 1 Industrial Cluster has attracted seven businesses, creating over 5,000 jobs with a 68% occupancy rate. Larger initiatives, such as the Tiền Giang Green Hydrogen Plant, Gò Công General Port, Tân Thạnh Wind Power Project, and Tân Điền Smart Urban Area, have also been approved for further study.

The province has drawn 86–87 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects, totalling over 4.1 billion USD across its industrial zones. While specific investors remain unnamed, the focus remains on long-term growth in coastal industry, logistics, renewable energy, and marine services.

Đồng Tháp's coastal development strategy seeks to boost economic restructuring and regional links. The planned infrastructure, industrial clusters, and high-value projects are expected to drive sustainable growth. The province continues to attract investment while expanding transport and industrial capacity.
