Ekaterinburg revives bus expansion after two failed procurement bids
Ekaterinburg is set to expand its fleet of articulated buses after two failed procurement attempts. The city plans to add more extra-large models to key routes by the end of summer. A new tender, valued at around 440 million rubles, is now underway. The city first introduced 15 articulated buses last year, assigning them to routes No. 49 and No. 51. This latest order will see additional vehicles deployed on routes No. 50, No. 64, and No. 67.
Previous tenders collapsed due to documentation problems. Officials now expect Volgabus to secure the contract. If successful, the new buses should arrive before autumn. The expanded fleet will increase capacity on busy routes. With the contract valued at 440 million rubles, the city aims to improve public transport efficiency. Delivery is scheduled for completion by late summer.
