Tobias Wagner, known as eTrucker, has revealed plans for a world-record attempt called 'Around the World in 80 Charging Stations'. He announced the details at the Media Summit before the IAA TRANSPORTATION trade fair. The journey will officially begin on the final day of the exhibition. The adventure will use a Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, an electric truck with a 600-kWh battery pack and a certified range of 500 kilometres. The vehicle is equipped with construction-site tyres, underbody protection, and an electro-hydraulic front axle for better traction. Its air suspension allows chassis height adjustments for off-road sections.
The truck also carries spare tyres and a retractable Alpitronic charging unit to convert DC to AC power when no other options are available. For local travel, Wagner will bring a Honda WN7 electric motorcycle, which can charge autonomously via a rooftop solar array. The project was completed in just three months by an ambitious team working with Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
Wagner plans to travel solo, occasionally joined by a film crew. His route will take him east across the Caspian Sea, through Thailand and Laos, then by sea to Australia, and finally to the Americas via the Pan-American Highway. The attempt highlights the capabilities of long-distance electric truck travel. The modified eActros 600 and its supporting equipment aim to ensure reliability across diverse terrains. The journey will test the limits of electric mobility on a global scale.
