FESCO employees clean up Vladivostok's coast for Ecologist's Day

Employees of FESCO Transportation Group took part in a coastal cleanup in Vladivostok on June 5. The event coincided with Russia’s annual Ecologist’s Day celebrations. Volunteers focused on removing waste from the water and nearby areas to improve the city’s environment. The cleanup took place aboard the tugboat FESCO Portflot in Golden Horn Bay. Workers from the company’s subsidiaries and its Youth Council gathered floating debris near the berths of Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port. The collected waste included plastic packaging, bottles, fishing nets, and wooden planks.

Port volunteers also extended their efforts to other parts of the city. They cleared litter from Young Pioneers Square, Tokarevskaya Spit, and Russky Island. Environmentalists noted that the amount of debris found this year was significantly lower than in previous cleanups. Yelena Ryabokon, head of the port’s industrial ecology department, highlighted the port’s ongoing commitment to cleanliness. Her team monitors water quality daily, removes waste near docks, and keeps the harbour tidy. Earlier this year, the port’s environmental volunteers also released young chum salmon and scallop larvae into the wild.

The cleanup marked another step in FESCO’s environmental initiatives. Regular monitoring and volunteer efforts have helped reduce pollution in Vladivostok’s waters and coastal areas. The company plans to continue these activities as part of its sustainability programme.
