Freiburg's B31 to see week-long lane closures for tree maintenance

Tree maintenance work will close one lane in each direction along the B31 in Freiburg starting February 9, 2026. The project, lasting about a week, will affect traffic between Schnewlin Bridge and Greiffenegg Bridge.

The closures will apply to both inbound and outbound traffic, with no official detours provided. Since only one lane is shut at a time, authorities have not recommended alternative routes. Instead, drivers should prepare for temporary delays in the area.

The work will operate as a moving zone, shifting along short sections of the road. To reduce disruption, crews will carry out the maintenance outside peak traffic hours. The measure aims to improve safety on this busy stretch of federal highway.

No alternative connections or bypass routes will be set up during the project. Motorists are advised to plan extra travel time while the work continues.

The lane closures will remain in place for roughly one week from February 9. The project focuses on maintaining roadside trees to enhance safety for drivers. Delays are expected, but no formal diversions will be arranged.
