Freiburg's public transport faces delays during daylight saving switch
Freiburg's public transport system will face temporary disruptions as the city switches to daylight saving time. The change happens on Sunday, 29 March 2026, with clocks moving forward by one hour. Some tram and bus services will be affected during the early hours of that morning. At 2:00 AM on 29 March, clocks will jump directly to 3:00 AM, shortening the night by an hour. Because of this, tram lines 1, 3, 4, and 5 will not operate between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM.
Night bus routes will also see adjustments. On line N40, several early trips will be cancelled, with the first regular service leaving at 3:10 AM. Line N41 will skip one departure, and the next available connection will run at 3:40 AM. VAG Freiburg has warned passengers that digital displays—both in its app and at stops—may show incorrect times after the change. The issue stems from the system adjusting to the new schedule.
The disruptions are a direct result of the time shift, which reduces the night by one hour. Passengers relying on early-morning services should check updated schedules in advance. VAG Freiburg advises allowing extra time for travel during the transition.
