Giant 23-Meter Silos Arrive for Plant's Borate Dosing Upgrade
Two oversized shipments reached the Unterbreizbach plant on April 15 and 16. The deliveries included several towering silos, each measuring around 23 metres in height. These components will form part of a new borate dosing system for the facility’s ongoing modernisation.
The transports travelled along Federal Highway 84, passing through Sünna and Räsa before arriving at the site. Both deliveries were completed by 6 a.m., sticking to the planned schedule. Each silo weighs roughly 12 metric tons and will be positioned in the southern area of the plant.
Once in place, the silos will securely hold raw materials needed for the borate dosing system. This system will introduce precise amounts of borate into the production process. Accurate dosing plays a key role in ensuring high product quality while using resources efficiently. The new setup is part of the *Werra 2060* transformation project. After arrival, two cranes will lift the silos into their final positions for installation.
The silos will now be installed to support the borate dosing system’s operation. Their role in storing and regulating raw materials aims to improve production consistency. The upgrade aligns with the plant’s long-term modernisation goals under Werra 2060.
