Globe's Digital Thumbprint Program celebrates 10 years of empowering digital literacy in the Philippines

Globe's Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) has now marked a decade of promoting digital literacy across the Philippines. Since its launch in 2016, the initiative has reached over two million students and educators nationwide. The programme's growth reflects its increasing relevance in tackling modern online challenges.

The DTP began as a response to rising digital threats among young internet users. Over time, it expanded its curriculum to cover AI ethics, digital etiquette, Philippine cyber laws, and digital rights. These updates aim to equip learners with skills to navigate an evolving online landscape.

In 2025, the programme engaged 16,560 students and teachers through workshops and learning sessions. That same year, Globe introduced the Digital Thumbprint Student Ambassador Program, training peer mentors to spread digital safety knowledge within schools.

By 2026, the DTP curriculum featured 36 stackable modules, divided into basic, intermediate, and advanced levels. The structured approach allows learners to progress at their own pace. Globe's efforts also extended beyond local education, contributing to GSMA's The Business Imperative for Digital Inclusion, a guide for mobile operators on fostering digital access.

The programme's impact earned recognition at the 2026 Consumer Choice Awards by Standard Insights. Globe received the Excellence in Digital Literacy and Safety award, highlighting its role in shaping responsible digital citizens.

The 10-year milestone underscores the programme's urgency and expanding mission, as noted by Yoly Crisanto, Globe's Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. With updated modules and peer-led training, DTP continues to address emerging digital risks. The initiative remains a key resource for schools and communities across the Philippines.
