GO Transit boosts FIFA World Cup 2026™ travel with 3,000 extra weekly trips
GO Transit is expanding services for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ tournament. Nearly 3,000 weekly trips will run to support fans travelling to matches and events. The changes will take effect from June 10 to July 5, 2026. Lakeshore West and Lakeshore East lines will offer trains every 15 minutes for most of the day. Before and after matches in Toronto, Lakeshore West will run up to six trains per hour between Exhibition GO and Union Station. Exhibition GO will close to non-customers on match days.
GO bus service on Route 12 to Niagara Falls will also increase during the tournament. Late-night services on GO Transit and UP Express will operate until as late as 1:45 a.m. every night of the week.
Fans heading to Toronto Stadium or the FIFA Fan Festival can use the official pedestrian route from Union Station. The walk takes about 45 minutes to the stadium and 30 minutes to the festival. Customers are advised to follow the marked route on Strachan Ave rather than passing through Exhibition GO Station.
A limited-edition PRESTO Commemorative Card will be available from June 4, 2026, while stocks last. Kids aged 12 and under travel free on all GO trains and buses. Seniors aged 65 and over receive a 55% discount when using a PRESTO card. The expanded services aim to help fans reach venues efficiently. Additional trains, buses, and late-night options will provide more travel choices. Discounts and special cards will also support cost savings for certain passengers.
