Halle Faces Total Public Transport Shutdown in Monday Strike

A public transport strike will disrupt travel across Halle on Monday, 2 February 2026. All bus and tram services operated by Hallesche Verkehrs AG (HAVAG) will come to a complete halt. Passengers are being urged to allow extra time and check for updates before setting off.

The strike will affect every HAVAG route, leaving no trams or buses running in the city. Some replacement services will be available, but coverage will vary by area. Halle-Neustadt will see multiple alternative options, while other districts may have little or no transport.

S-Bahn and regional train services will continue to operate, though with adjusted schedules. The S3 line, running every 30 minutes between Halle-Nietleben and Borna/Geithain, remains active. The S5 and S5X lines will connect Halle-Trotha with Leipzig, while the S7 runs hourly between Halle Hauptbahnhof and Lutherstadt Eisleben. Regional train RB47 will also maintain its route between Halle Hauptbahnhof and Bernburg.

Replacement buses will run on selected routes, but frequencies and timetables will differ from usual services. Operators like OBS, PNVG, and VGS will provide some alternatives. However, buses arriving from Saalekreis during peak hours will terminate at Neustadt instead of continuing to Hauptbahnhof. Delays are also expected on OBS lines in Neustadt due to ongoing bridge construction on Hochstraße.

The strike will force many travellers to adjust their plans. Those relying on public transport should confirm their routes in advance and expect possible delays. Limited alternatives will be available, with trains and replacement buses covering only certain areas.
