Halle (Saale) will take part in the nationwide Germany Recycles campaign from June 6 to 21, 2026. The initiative aims to improve recycling rates for plastics, metals, paper and glass across the city. Organisers plan to engage residents with interactive activities and expert advice. The campaign is run by Waste Separation Works, an initiative set up in 2020 by Germany’s ten dual waste systems. Its goal is to cut down on incorrect sorting and encourage a closed-loop economy. Households will receive guidance on better recycling habits.
A key event will take place on June 11, 2026, at Halle’s Market Square. From 1 to 6 p.m., an info hub will showcase the circular economy. Visitors can explore a mobile exhibition truck staffed by experts and see air sculptures shaped like packaging. Entertainment will include a quiz wheel and appearances by the *Sorting Bear* mascot. The activities are designed to make learning about recycling engaging for all ages.
The two-week campaign will focus on practical education and community involvement. By reducing sorting mistakes, organisers hope to increase the amount of material effectively recycled. The event forms part of a broader push to strengthen Germany’s circular economy.
