Safety Concerns: Tram Bridge in Halle Remains Closed - Halle's Saale River Bridge closure disrupts tram services indefinitely

Tram services in southern Halle have faced sudden disruption after the Saale River Bridge was closed due to safety concerns. The shutdown affects key routes, forcing changes to schedules and connections for passengers travelling between Halle-Ammendorf and Schkopau.

The closure follows routine inspections that found the bridge no longer met safety standards for reliable tram operations. As a result, through services to Bad Dürrenberg have been halted, leaving the section between Halle-Ammendorf and Schkopau/Am Schloss inaccessible to trams.

A temporary bus service now replaces the affected tram routes, connecting Halle-Ammendorf and Schkopau. During the day, line 5 operates between Kröllwitz and Ammendorf, while late-night services use line 95 on the same stretch. In the Saale district, line 5 continues as a shuttle between Bad Dürrenberg/Markt and Schkopau/Buna-Werke.

HAVAG has advised passengers to check updated schedules online or at stops and allow extra travel time. Meanwhile, plans for a replacement bridge are already in development, though no timeline has been announced.

The disruption means longer journeys for many commuters until a new bridge is built. For now, buses fill the gap, and revised timetables are available to help passengers adjust their travel plans. The situation remains under review as authorities work on a permanent solution.
