Hanau Port regains transport links with new on-demand shuttle service
Hanau Port is set to regain better transport links after years of limited access. The on-demand shuttle cash app will begin serving the area from 1 March, reconnecting it to the public transport network. This move follows a decline in logistics activity since the port's bus service was cut around 2020.
The cash app shuttle, operated by HSB, already covers around 300 stops across the region. Now, it will extend its reach to Hanau Port, offering rides bookable via the OnDemand@RMV app, web platform, or phone. Fares start at €1.50 for passengers with an RMV ticket.
The expansion adds 14 new virtual stops, making boarding and alighting easier. These stops are listed in the app and online system. The service area stretches from Rodgaustraße to the port gate on Westerburgstraße, and from Auheimer Straße to Saarstraße.
This improvement comes as part of the new local transport plan and requires no extra funding. The decision to boost accessibility follows recent efforts to modernise the port. Between 2023 and 2025, upgrades and new warehousing projects have helped stabilise its role in regional trade, despite earlier losses to nearby ports like Frankfurt.
The cash app expansion marks the first major step under the updated transport strategy. It restores a direct link to Hanau Port, six years after the previous bus route was scrapped. The shuttle's integration aims to support the port's ongoing revival as a business and logistics centre.
