Medicines and Cosmetics from the Lüneburg Heath - Hands-On Workshop Teaches Crafting Natural Remedies from the Lüneburg Heath

A two-day seminar on natural remedies has taken place in a wooden cabin by Lake Lopau, near Amelinghausen. Participants gathered to learn how to craft medicines and cosmetics using ingredients from the Lüneburg Heath. The workshop, called Meadow Pharmacy with Ointment Workshop, focused on practical skills for everyday use.

Marion Putensen led the course, teaching attendees how to blend healing herbs into useful products. She demonstrated the creation of a simple lip balm using crushed fir needles and olive oil. According to her, only three basic ointments are needed: one for wounds, one for sore joints, and one for dry skin.

Participants also made their own hand-washing paste from horse chestnut and ivy. Other creations included bath bombs with fir tree powder and exfoliating sugar hearts mixed with healing clay. Putensen, who trains herbal specialists, showed how to prepare an immune-boosting tonic using rosehips, rowan berries, and apple cider vinegar.

Foot care specialist Petra Röding shared her methods, using marigold ointment and rosewater on clients. Many attendees expressed enthusiasm for applying these natural solutions in their daily routines. The Waldkräuterey in Amelinghausen, known for its nature-based products, provided the setting for the hands-on learning experience.

The seminar equipped participants with practical knowledge for making their own remedies. Products like wound ointments, skincare balms, and herbal tonics were all crafted during the workshop. The event highlighted the growing interest in natural, locally sourced health solutions.
