Himalayan Bear Cubs Find New Home at Yekaterinburg Zoo After Epic Journey

Two five-month-old Himalayan bear cubs have arrived at Yekaterinburg Zoo after a long journey from Primorsky Krai. The brothers were relocated on June 5 following months of care at a specialised rehabilitation centre. Officials confirmed their safe transfer and good health throughout the process. The cubs were first taken in by the Tiger Rehabilitation Center in Alexeyevka back in March. During their stay, they grew stronger and gradually adjusted to human presence. Their progress allowed for a planned move to a permanent home.

A full veterinary inspection was carried out by Rosselkhoznadzor before departure. The cubs were then flown out of Vladivostok Airport, with all transport regulations strictly followed. This marks the second time Rosselkhoznadzor has overseen such a transfer—two other Himalayan bear cubs were previously moved to the R. A. Shilo Novosibirsk Zoo under similar arrangements.

The cubs are now settling into their new enclosure at Yekaterinburg Zoo. Their relocation ensures continued care in a suitable environment. Authorities confirmed no health or logistical issues arose during the transfer.
