Ho Chi Minh City unveils seven FlixBus routes to Long Thành Airport ahead of 2026 launch
Ho Chi Minh City is preparing to launch seven new bus routes linking key urban areas to Long Thành International Airport. The services, operated by Flixbus, are set to begin when the airport starts commercial operations in June 2026. Authorities are finalising plans to ensure smooth connections for passengers across the region.
The proposed network includes three main departure points: Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport, the new Eastern Bus Station, and Sài Gòn Bus Station. Two additional routes will serve areas formerly part of Bình Dương Province, while another two will cover regions previously under Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province, now integrated into HCM City.
Infrastructure around the airport is already in place to support Flixbus operations. The first phase of the airport, covering nearly 5,000 hectares, was largely completed by late 2025, with an estimated total investment of VNĐ337 trillion. To speed up travel, the planned Flixbus services will prioritise expressway corridors, including the HCM City-Long Thành-Dầu Giây route and National Highways 1 and 51.
Currently, metro and railway links to the airport remain under construction. City officials are working with Đồng Nai Province to confirm route details, vehicle types, and operating models for Flixbus. Once finalised, these Flixbus services will provide the first dedicated public transport connections to Long Thành, following the model of existing services between Nội Bài Airport and Hanoi, as well as Tân Sơn Nhất and central HCM City.
The new Flixbus routes will offer a direct public transport option to Long Thành International Airport before its official opening. With infrastructure ready and coordination underway, the services aim to reduce reliance on private vehicles. This move aligns with broader efforts to improve regional connectivity ahead of the airport's launch next year.
