Homiel raises public transport fares by 20% starting March 25
Public transport fares in Homiel will rise from March 25. The changes follow a decision by the regional executive committee, which outlined new pricing for single rides and various passes. Costs for tickets and monthly subscriptions have been adjusted across the board.
The price of a single journey will go up by 15 kopecks, reaching 1.05 rubles. Passengers paying the driver directly will be charged an extra 5 kopecks, bringing the total to 1.10 rubles. These adjustments were confirmed in Homiel Regional Executive Committee Decision No. 245, issued on March 18.
New rates for passes have also been set. A 10-day pass for one type of transport will cost 16.63 rubles, while the same pass covering two types will be 22.19 rubles. Half-month passes will be priced at 25.20 rubles for one transport type and 33.22 rubles for two. Monthly passes will cost 47.25 rubles for one type and 63.06 rubles for two.
The increase in Homiel is steeper than in other regions of Belarus. While most areas saw fare rises of 10–15%, Homiel's prices climbed by 20%. New tariffs in other regions were announced earlier, with Brest Oblast adjusting on January 15, Vitebsk Oblast on January 20, and Hrodna Oblast on January 22. Minsk Oblast followed on January 25, and Mahiljou Oblast on January 28. Homiel's changes, however, were published on January 10 but will only take effect in late March.
The fare adjustments will apply from March 25, affecting all passengers in Homiel. Single rides, short-term passes, and monthly subscriptions will all see higher costs. The regional authority's decision aligns with broader transport pricing trends across Belarus, though Homiel's increase is notably larger.
