IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 spotlights electric and hydrogen mobility innovations in Hanover

The IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 will take place in Hanover from September 15 to 20. This year’s event will focus on battery-electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, along with connected, autonomous, and AI-driven transport solutions. Organisers have confirmed strong international participation, with nearly all exhibition halls fully booked. Over 70% of exhibitors come from outside Germany, with 27% representing Asian companies. More than a quarter of participants are attending for the first time. The event will also feature 16 exhibitors offering test drives for 65 vehicles, with 75% of them electrically powered.

The IAA Conference will occupy Hall 18, hosting three stages for discussions on product innovations and political debates. Mercedes-Benz Vans has confirmed its return to the show, joining other major names in the industry. To accommodate demand, organisers have added Hall 22 to the exhibition space. The VDA, the event’s organiser, is pushing for faster expansion of charging and hydrogen refuelling stations. It also wants more flexible regulations for heavy-duty trucks, which contribute nearly 30% of CO₂ emissions from European road freight.

The IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 will highlight the latest advancements in sustainable transport and logistics. With strong international involvement and a focus on zero-emission technologies, the event aims to shape the future of commercial mobility. Organisers expect record attendance and engagement from industry leaders.
