Kamchatka's Public Transport Upgrades with Ten New Buses for Comfortable Travel

Kamchatka’s public transport network is getting a boost with ten new buses. These vehicles will soon begin operating in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and its surrounding areas. Officials say the upgrades aim to improve comfort and accessibility for passengers. The new buses are currently undergoing final technical checks before hitting the roads. They will start servicing routes across the regional capital and nearby suburbs next week. However, Route No. 102 will not be included in the initial rollout.

Each bus can carry up to 78 passengers, with 23 of those seats offering extra cushioning. Inside, travellers will find USB charging ports and fold-out ramps for easier boarding. Alexander Saburov, head of the Kamchatka Road Transport Union, highlighted the improved comfort compared to older models. The updates don’t stop at the buses themselves. Authorities are also removing advertisements from the exteriors, opting for a cleaner, more uniform look. This change aligns with broader plans to modernise the fleet. By the end of 2026, Kamchatka aims to ensure no bus in service is older than 15 years. The goal is to replace outdated vehicles with models that meet current safety and comfort standards.

The arrival of these ten buses marks a step toward a more efficient and passenger-friendly transport system. With enhanced features and stricter age limits for vehicles, residents can expect gradual improvements in daily travel. The first services will begin operating within days.
