A biodiversity and mangrove cleanliness drive will take place this Sunday in Kamothe. Organised by Bhumi Welfare Trust, the Mangrove Foundation, and Mangrove Soldiers, the event aims to raise awareness about protecting local ecosystems. Residents and volunteers are invited to join the effort between 7 am and 9 am near Bhumi Tower in Sector 36. The campaign marks the 299th environmental initiative led by Bhumi Welfare Trust. Its goal is to inspire citizens to take an active role in safeguarding nature, with a particular focus on mangrove conservation. The drive will highlight the importance of these ecosystems in maintaining coastal biodiversity.
Forest Guard Balaji Gangadhar Waghmare, along with Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Somnath Potre and local corporators, will attend the event. Their presence underscores official support for the initiative. Several organisations, including the Lions Club, Rotary Club, and various nature enthusiast groups, are also expected to participate. The collective effort aims to clean the area while educating attendees on the need to preserve mangroves and local wildlife.
The drive will run from 7 am to 9 am on May 10 near Bhumi Tower. Organisers hope the event will encourage more residents to engage in environmental protection. Participation from local groups and authorities signals growing community involvement in conservation efforts.
