Khabarovsk Krai Deploys AI Surveillance in Sports Facilities for Safety

Khabarovsk Krai has introduced an AI-powered surveillance system at its sports facilities. The Yerofei Arena and nearby sites are the first to adopt the technology, which focuses on visitor safety and operational efficiency. Authorities claim the system can identify individuals with 95% accuracy. The new monitoring setup combines video analytics and artificial intelligence for real-time oversight. Facial recognition cameras track security, attendance, and occupancy levels, helping staff manage peak hours more effectively. The system also links to athletes’ digital profiles, recording training sessions and performance metrics.

Currently, the technology runs in test mode while engineers adjust parameters and calibrate data inputs. Beyond the arena, a ‘smart’ sports ground and a modular gym have been connected to the network. Plans are underway to expand the system to a phygital centre in the future. The project follows directives from the Russian president, prioritising safety and modernisation. Officials have emphasised its role in enhancing security while streamlining facility management.

The AI-driven system is now active at the Yerofei Arena and its surrounding sites. It monitors visitor movements, training activities, and occupancy patterns in real time. Once fully operational, the technology will extend to additional sports complexes across Khabarovsk Krai.
