Khabarovsk Krai's public transport gets 70M ruble upgrade in 2026
Public transport in Khabarovsk Krai is set for major upgrades in 2026. Funding has risen to 70 million rubles under a regional programme led by Governor Dmitry Demeshin. The changes aim to improve services across seven municipalities, with new buses and digital payment options on the way. The boost in funding comes from the regional initiative Development of the Transport System, overseen by Governor Demeshin. The extra 70 million rubles will help modernise buses and expand routes in areas struggling with outdated infrastructure.
One key improvement is the purchase of 14 new buses, prioritising models from Russian manufacturers. These vehicles are expected to enhance passenger comfort and reliability. Additionally, residents in Khabarovsk can now pay fares through ride-hailing apps, a feature introduced on June 1. The Sovetskaya Gavan district will also benefit from a new route. This service will connect a remote neighbourhood to nearby villages, filling a long-standing gap in local transport.
The upgrades will bring newer buses, digital fare payments, and expanded routes to Khabarovsk Krai. Seven municipalities will share the funding, with the first changes already in place. The programme reflects ongoing efforts to make public transport more efficient and accessible across the region.
