Khabarovsk turns off traffic lights for smart transport upgrade
The traffic lights at the intersection of Karl Marx Street and Moskovskaya Street in Khabarovsk have been switched off temporarily. This step is part of the city’s ongoing upgrade to its intelligent transport system. Authorities expect the work to last between two and three days. The deactivation follows recent improvements at another nearby junction. Last week, similar upgrades were finished at the crossing of Karl Marx Street and Dikopol’tsev Street. During that project, traffic police monitored the area to ensure drivers followed road rules and kept traffic moving smoothly.
This time, officers will again be stationed at the Karl Marx–Moskovskaya intersection, particularly during busy periods. Their role will include directing vehicles and preventing congestion. The city has also confirmed that additional crews are on standby to address any issues that may arise. The upgrades aim to modernise the transport network, but temporary measures remain in place to avoid disruptions. Drivers are advised to follow police instructions and proceed with caution through the affected area.
The city is keeping a close watch on the situation to minimise risks of accidents or delays. Traffic police will remain present until the new system is fully operational. Once complete, the intersection will rejoin the updated intelligent transport network.
