Koblenz Carnival 2026: How buses and routes will change for the festivities

Koblenz is preparing for Carnival celebrations with changes to public transport from February 6-17, 2026. Bus routes will face detours, temporary stop closures, and schedule adjustments during parades. The city's transport operator, koveb, is also expanding late-night services to accommodate revellers.

The first disruptions begin on February 6, with further changes on February 14, 15, and 16. On Rose Monday (February 16), buses will follow a regular Friday timetable, but with extra reinforcement services. Several routes will be diverted or shortened, and some stops will not be served until streets reopen.

Late-night buses will run on Shrove Thursday into Friday, Friday into Saturday, Saturday into Sunday, and Rose Monday into Shrove Tuesday. The bus information centre at Lühr-Center will also adjust its opening hours during this period.

In Bendorf, line 8 will detour via B 42 to Vallendar and Koblenz during the Immendorf parade on Sunday, February 15 (13:00-17:00). On February 17, line 9 will turn at Ringstraße instead of its usual route via L 127 or Pfarrer-Kraus-Straße.

The Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Mosel (VRM) is offering its Happy Days deal from February 12-17. This allows groups of up to five people to travel unlimited across the VRM network for one day. After each parade, regular services will resume once the streets are clear.

Passengers are advised to check updated schedules and plan ahead for Carnival travel. The expanded late-night services and Happy Days deal aim to ease disruptions. Normal operations will return once the festivities end and streets reopen.
