Kokchetav launches free public transport for disabled residents in February 2026
Kokchetav has announced free public transport for residents with second- and third-group disabilities. The new benefit begins on February 3, 2026, following a decision by the city's akimat and Maslikhat. It marks the latest expansion of discounted fares in the region.
The change comes under resolution 'On Establishing Transport Fare Discounts', which broadens eligibility for travel subsidies. Previously, only certain groups qualified, but now all individuals with second- and third-group disabilities—regardless of their medical condition—are included. This brings the total number of eligible categories to 16.
To access the free transport, residents must first obtain a disability certificate. This can be done at the Employment and Social Programs Department, located at 9A Shalkar Street. Once certified, they need to visit the electronic ticketing operator, KoksheBusTolem LLP, at 243 B. Ashimov Street. There, a photo will be taken, and the discounted transport card will be issued.
The new policy ensures that, from February 3, 2026, all qualifying individuals can travel without charge on Kokchetav's public transport network.
The initiative removes fare costs for thousands of residents with disabilities. Those eligible must complete two steps: collect their certificate and register for the transport card. Officials have confirmed the process is now open to all qualifying applicants.
