Krasnodar deploys 543 workers in overnight battle against icy streets

Krasnodar's road and utility crews have launched a large-scale operation to combat icy conditions across the city. Overnight, teams will focus on clearing and treating roads, sidewalks, and public transport stops to improve safety for drivers and pedestrians alike.

A total of 543 workers have been deployed to tackle the winter weather. Their tasks include clearing sidewalks, removing ice from steps at 160 public transport stops, and treating key pedestrian areas.

Around 30 combined machines will resume overnight operations to keep roads passable. Earlier efforts saw 25 specialised vehicles spread a sand-salt mixture across over 190 kilometres of roads. De-icing materials have already been applied to 320 streets and 27 pedestrian crossings to prevent hazardous build-up. The operation aims to maintain safe travel conditions as temperatures remain low. Crews will continue monitoring and treating surfaces where ice poses the greatest risk.

The ongoing work covers major streets, sidewalks, and transport hubs to reduce accidents and delays. With hundreds of workers and dozens of vehicles involved, the city's infrastructure teams are prioritising high-traffic zones. Further updates will depend on weather developments in the coming days.
