Krasnodar's key freight route undergoes major safety and efficiency upgrades
A major road upgrade is currently underway in Krasnodar Territory, targeting a key freight route. The Tbilisskaya–Kropotkin road, part of Russia's core network, is being repaired to improve safety and efficiency. Officials confirm the work will benefit both transport and local residents. Crews have already begun repairs on a 7.1-kilometre section between Tbilisskaya and Kazanskaya stations. Worn asphalt has been removed, potholes filled, and temporary signs installed to guide traffic. The next step involves laying a levelling base to ensure even load distribution from passing vehicles.
The project falls under the federal initiative *Regional and Local Road Network*, with 32.7 kilometres of core roads in the region set for upgrades by 2023. Currently, workers are smoothing out ruts and fixing areas affected by subsidence. Specialists from the regional transport ministry conduct regular inspections to check material quality and compliance with standards. Yevgeny Pergun, deputy governor of Krasnodar Territory, highlighted the importance of these repairs for residents' daily lives. The road also serves school buses and public transport, placing it under stricter oversight. All work is expected to finish by November 2026.
The upgrades will strengthen a vital freight corridor while improving travel conditions for locals. With inspections ongoing and a clear timeline in place, the project aims to deliver lasting improvements. The completed repairs should reduce delays and enhance road safety for all users.
