Krasnodar's Western Bypass to Undergo Major Reconstruction by 2028

A major reconstruction project on Krasnodar's Western Bypass is set to begin in 2026. The work will focus on a 3.157-kilometre stretch between the 17th and 20th kilometre markers. This forms part of a wider effort to modernise nearly 9 kilometres of the route in three phases.

The initiative falls under the city's '25/35' road programme, which carries a total budget of 151.3 billion rubles. Funding will come from both regional and municipal sources, with project documentation already approved by state experts.

The first phase of the bypass modernisation is due for completion by the end of 2025. This early stage will pave the way for the main reconstruction work on the 17th–20th kilometre segment, scheduled from 2026 to 2028. Plans include a full upgrade of the road surface from the Lenta shopping centre to the Dzerzhinsky Street interchange.

Construction timelines will depend on two key factors: the finalisation of land acquisition and the release of allocated funds. Once these steps are complete, work on the 3.157-kilometre section will commence. The remaining two segments of the bypass are then set for reconstruction between 2026 and 2027.

The entire project is part of a broader 9-kilometre overhaul of the Western Bypass, split into three distinct phases. While the full scope of the programme is extensive, the immediate focus remains on the upcoming 2026–2028 works.

The reconstruction will bring significant changes to a key section of Krasnodar's Western Bypass. With state approval secured and funding in place, the project now awaits land acquisition before breaking ground. Once complete, the upgraded route will form part of a nearly 9-kilometre modernised corridor under the city's long-term road plan.
