Kuwait unveils bold plan to modernize public transport and cut congestion
Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior recently held a meeting to improve public transport and ease traffic congestion. The session brought together senior security officials, transport company representatives, and Brigadier Abdullah Al-Ateeqi to discuss modernising the country’s transport network. The meeting focused on transforming Kuwait’s public transport into a modern, integrated system that supports urban development. Participants examined ways to enhance bus operations, optimise routes, and address current challenges faced by transport providers.
Strategies to make buses and mass transit more appealing, efficient, and safe were also reviewed. Compliance with traffic laws and best practices in the sector formed a key part of the discussions. Major General Al-Wahib emphasised the need for strong coordination between the Ministry and transport firms to carry out the proposed plans. Officials agreed on the importance of encouraging residents to use public transport more often. The goal is to reduce road congestion while ensuring smoother traffic flow and better road safety across the country.
The Ministry has pledged to use all available resources and adopt proven methods to upgrade public transport services. By working closely with transport companies, authorities aim to implement practical solutions that meet future demands. The initiative seeks to create a more reliable and user-friendly transport system for Kuwait’s residents.
