Leipzig Book Fair boosts travel with extra train services for attendees

The Leipzig Book Fair will run from March 19 to 22, with extra train services to help visitors reach the event. Long-distance trains will make special stops at Leipzig Messe station during the four-day fair. Organisers have also arranged a dedicated route from Dresden for weekend travellers.

For the first time, selected ICE and IC trains will halt directly at Leipzig Messe station. This will allow attendees from Hamburg, Munich, and Frankfurt to travel straight to the fairgrounds without extra transfers.

A special train will operate on Saturday and Sunday, connecting Dresden Hauptbahnhof to Leipzig Messe. It will leave Dresden at 8:30 AM and return at 5:44 PM, with stops in Riesa, Oschatz, and Wurzen along the way. Local transit tickets will be valid on this service, making the journey more convenient for passengers. All additional train services will be available throughout the fair's duration. Visitors can use these connections to travel to and from the event on each of the four days.

The extra train services aim to simplify travel for book fair attendees. Both long-distance and regional passengers will benefit from direct routes to Leipzig Messe. The changes apply only for the duration of the event, from March 19 to 22.
