Lufthansa expands winter flights to Arctic Circle destinations for 2026/27

Lufthansa Group is expanding its services to the Nordic countries for the 2026/27 winter flight schedule, with a new direct route between Munich and Rovaniemi at its core, the company announced. Starting December 4, Lufthansa will operate the route twice weekly—on Fridays and Sundays.

The outbound flight departs Munich at 11:30 AM, arriving in Rovaniemi at 3:45 PM local time. The return flight takes off at 4:40 PM, landing in Munich at 6:55 PM. The route will be served by an Airbus A320neo.

At the same time, Lufthansa is increasing frequencies on its Frankfurt–Tromsø and Munich–Tromsø routes by two flights per week each. Additional seasonal expansions are planned for February and March 2027: Frankfurt–Rovaniemi will gain a third weekly connection, Frankfurt–Kuusamo a second, and Munich–Kittilä will expand to up to three weekly flights.

Overall, the Lufthansa Group will operate up to 69 weekly flights to nine airports in the Arctic Circle region. In addition to Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, and Discover Airlines also serve Nordic destinations. Tromsø remains the most connected hub in the region, with up to 22 weekly flights from eight airports.
