Lünen Central Station transforms into a seamless mobility hub for travelers
Lünen Central Station has become a mobility hub, linking buses, trains, bikes, and future transit lines. The upgrade is part of a joint effort between Unna District and the city of Lünen. New signage and information points have been added to help travellers navigate the area. The station now features three clearly marked entrances: North, ZOB, and Wüstenknapp. Each has directional signs to guide passengers. The North Entrance connects to the bike parking area and will serve the upcoming X-bus rapid transit routes.
At the ZOB Entrance, travellers find the remaining bus stops and a bike-sharing station. Both the North and ZOB entrances have information pillars with maps of the surrounding area.
The project aims to simplify transfers between different transport modes. Over the next few years, similar infrastructure will be introduced at other key bus and rail nodes in the region. The changes at Lünen Central Station make it easier to switch between buses, trains, and bikes. More transport hubs in the area will receive comparable upgrades soon. The initiative reflects ongoing cooperation between local authorities and transport planners.
