Maharashtra pushes for Navi Mumbai-Chipi air route launch by Independence Day

Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane recently met with Fly91 officials to speed up the launch of the Navi Mumbai-Chipi air route. The discussions also covered plans for extra flights during the busy Ganesh festival season. Both sides aim to finalise the route before Independence Day. The meeting included Fly91 Chief Executive Officer Manoj Chacko, who joined talks on the new air service. Rane stressed the importance of early commencement, with the state government pledging full support to make it happen.

The new route is expected to improve travel between Sindhudurg and major Indian cities. Officials believe better air links will boost tourism, trade, and investment in the coastal area. Local businesses could also benefit from increased connectivity.

Rane highlighted the need for additional flights during Ganeshotsav to handle the rise in travellers. He also expressed confidence that stronger aviation links would help develop the Konkan region. The discussions come as preparations continue for the opening of Navi Mumbai International Airport. Efforts are now focused on launching the Navi Mumbai-Chipi service ahead of Independence Day. The route aims to enhance regional access and support economic growth. Further updates are expected as plans progress.
