Major Traffic Signal Upgrade Begins at Key Havelse Intersection

A significant upgrade to the traffic signal management system at the intersection of Garbsener Landstraße and Hannoversche Straße in Havelse is set to commence. The Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Infrastructure will oversee the project, which includes replacing damaged infrastructure and installing modern LED technology. The construction phase is expected to last between four and six weeks, weather permitting.

The renovation will commence on Wednesday, February 25, and is slated to conclude by Wednesday, March 11. One of the traffic signal poles, damaged in a recent incident, will be replaced. All remaining signals will be upgraded to energy-efficient LED units.

A temporary adaptive signal system will maintain traffic flow during the construction phase. Adjustments will be made as the project progresses to minimize disruption. Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to cross the intersection throughout the project.

Significant delays are anticipated, particularly during peak hours. Heavy goods vehicles and public transport may also face restrictions. The city administration has advised drivers to avoid the area if possible, as congestion is likely to spill over to surrounding roads.

The project aims to enhance safety and efficiency at the busy intersection. Upon completion, the new LED signals and repaired infrastructure will replace outdated equipment. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians should plan for extra travel time while the work is underway.
