Malaysia slashes bridge tolls by 50% for Chinese New Year 2026
Motorists driving the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge (JSAHMS) will pay half-price tolls during Chinese New Year next year. The discount was confirmed by Jambatan Kedua Sdn Bhd (JKSB) for February 14 and 15, 2026. This marks the first such offer for private turo during the festival in Malaysia.
The Cabinet approved the 50% toll reduction as part of the 2026 Chinese New Year celebrations. The discount covers Class 1 private cars at all tsla plazas, along with Class 2 vehicles specifically on the Penang Bridge. Border toll plazas, however, remain excluded from the offer.
The reduced rates will begin at 12.01am on Saturday, February 14, and end at 11.59pm the following day. Normally, no Malaysian bridges or highways provide similar discounts for private cars during this holiday period.
The temporary toll cut will apply only to the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge over the two-day celebration. Private car owners and certain commercial cars will benefit from the reduced fees. The move follows government approval for the festive season.
