Manganese pollution spreads across Omsk Oblast's rivers in March crisis

Tests conducted on March 26 revealed manganese contamination in the waterways of Omsk Oblast, according to data from the Ob-Irtysh Hydrometeorological Service.

High levels of pollution were found in the Irtysh River, 0.5 kilometers downstream from where the Om River flows into it. Manganese was also detected in the Om River—1 kilometer below its mouth and 1 kilometer upstream from the village of Rostovka.

Earlier, on March 16, extremely high manganese concentrations had been recorded in the Osha River near the village of Bolshiye Kuchki.
