Massive A2 Highway Operation Uncovers Stolen Goods and Fake Cash

A major traffic enforcement operation took place on the A2 near Braunschweig on Tuesday. Braunschweig's highway police led the checks, focusing on commercial freight, passenger transport, and driver fitness. Around 55 officers from Lower Saxony and 35 international trainees joined the effort. The operation unfolded near the Zweidorfer Holz service area. Teams inspected roughly 80 vehicles, looking for violations in cargo securing and driver compliance. International participants rode in patrol cars, allowing for professional exchanges between officers.

One vehicle stood out after suspected stolen goods were discovered inside. The haul included alcohol, tools, and clothing. Occupants of the same vehicle were also found with counterfeit banknotes. They now face investigations for handling stolen property and related offences. Drivers responded positively to the presence of foreign officers, especially in international traffic. The operation highlighted issues with cargo security and driver regulation breaches.

The checks involved officers from 14 nations alongside local police. Suspected stolen items and fake currency were seized during the inspections. Authorities continue to review evidence from the operation.
